Description
This is an attempt to scientifically re-construct the model of an ammonite genus ‘Mortoniceras’. This model was reconstructed based on a fragment found at the badlands of the district Perambalur that belongs Trichinopoly group of South India, whose strata date back to the late Cretaceous. This model is currently on display at the PEACE – PErambalur Ammonite Centre. This centre has around 150 ammonite fossils recovered from in and around the district.
